SHP’s SILENT NIGHT

Shhh…it’s silent night.

Last Friday night at SHP, the boy’s varsity basketball team beat Pinewood by 64-57 in a thrilling game.  Not only was this the boys’ first league game at home, but it was also Silent Night.  This basketball tradition has the whole student section sit down and remain quiet until the gators score their 10th point then everybody goes crazy.

The crowd’s energy was “crucial” to the boys’ success, according to Jack Kirkham (‘19).  The game was back and forth all night and it was in the final minutes that the gators pulled ahead. Junior, Johnny de Grosz, hit some clutch free throws with a minute left to seal the game.  When asked what he was thinking while shooting the free throws, Johnny said he simply imagined he was at practice, working on his free throws like the team does every day.  The team celebrated their second league victory, but quickly had to move on to the next opponent.  The gators’ next home game will be on Tuesday the 17th at 7pm against Menlo so everyone should come and support!
